To promote course-related discussions between group members, you can link groups to Slack channels.
Note: Before you can add a Slack channel to a group, you must connect your learning space to a Slack workspace.
Follow these steps:
- On the People page, click the GROUPS tab.
- Click Create group or select an existing group in the list and click Manage Group.
- In the Add Group or Edit Group window, click the Slack channel drop-down menu and select the channel you want to link the group to.
- Manage the other settings for the group as necessary and click Save group setting.
The channel is connected to the group and existing members of the channel are notified.
Existing group members who are not already members of the Slack channel are added to the Slack channel, as are members who are added to the group in future.
On the My Profile page, users can view all of their groups and see any Slack channels that are connected to their groups. Users can also launch connected Slack channels by clicking the name of the channel.
In addition to adding Slack channels to groups, you can add Slack channels to courses. For more information, see 'Adding a Slack channel to a course'.
For more information about setting up or managing groups, see 'Creating groups' or 'Managing groups'.
