This article describes how you can send and reply to messages for an individual candidate.

Sending a message to an individual candidate
You can send a message to an individual candidate from both the Manage Candidates page and Candidate Application View.
From the Manage Candidates page:
- Select the candidate you wish to message
- Click the Message button
From the candidate's application view:
- Click on the "Management" tab under candidate's details.
- Click on the "Messages" page
- Click on the "+ New Message" button
Create your message

- Choose to Compose from template or Compose (your own) with Compono Assist.
- If you selected Compose from template, choose a template from the dropdown menu.
- Add (or edit) a subject for your message in the "Subject" field (mandatory)
- Write (or generate) your message in the "Message" field (mandatory). You will get the default placeholder
{{recipient.firstname}}in the message body which will be replaced by the candidate’s first name in the message. You can choose a different placeholder from{{recipient.lastname}}and{{recipient.fullname}}which will be replaced by the last name or full name of the candidate respectively. You can delete the placeholder from the message to exclude it, but any error in the placeholder format will not allow you to send the message. - Click on the “Upload files” button to add documents with the message if you have any (supported document type: .doc ,.docx , .pdf , .rtf , .txt , .jpeg , .png ) If you upload the incorrect file, click the trash icon to remove it before sending.
- Optionally check the "Do not reply to this message" checkbox, if you want to disable the ability for the candidate to reply to your message.
- Once you finish writing the message / uploading necessary files, click on the “Send message” button. Your message will be sent and you will see the message with attachment (if any) in the message feed for the candidate. You will find the latest message sent to/received from the candidate at the top. If you do not want to send the message, you can click the “Cancel” button.
- You will get a “Sent via email” confirmation tag at the bottom of the message after it has been successfully sent and the candidate will receive a notification email alerting them they have received a message from you in Compono Hire. The “sent via email” tag will be updated by the “Seen by candidate” tag in the message feed when the message is viewed by the candidate.
NOTE: Once you have sent a message, you won’t be able to delete or modify the message.
Replying to a message from a candidate
To send a follow up/reply message:
- Click “Reply” on any of the messages in the candidate's message feed. You will get the same message text box as sending a new message except the subject field remains un-editable.
- Type in your reply and attach any documents if required
- Optionally check the "Do not reply to this message" checkbox
- Click the "Send message" button
Notifications
When a candidate replies to one of your messages, you will
- Receive an email notification with a link to view the message in Compono Hire, and
- See a new message icon next to the candidate name on the Manage Candidates page.
