Are there some requirements for your role that are a little out of the norm, but important?
You can add pre-screening questions to your job to help you immediately identify candidates who do not meet a base requirement for your job. For example: Are you willing to work in sub zero conditions? Or do you have valid rights to work in Australia?
We recommend that you think of questions that will immediately rule a candidate out of the job if they don't answer with the desired response. This will allow you to quickly filter these candidates out of your list.
IMPORTANT: Pre-screening questions can only be added to your job while it’s a draft. Once you open the job to applications, you can no longer add or edit the questions. Why? If you edit the questions after candidates have already filled in their responses, their answers will no longer be relevant to your new questions.
How to add Pre-screening questions
To add pre-screening questions, follow the steps below:
- Start by creating a job and continue to the job profile page (or edit a job that is still in draft)
- Click on the Pre-screening questions section from the left menu
- Add your questions one by one, by typing in the text box and selecting your desired response (Yes or no) .
- If you wish to add more questions, click the “+ Another question” button.
- When you are ready to save, click on the "Save and continue" button at the bottom of the page.
Note:
- You can also choose not to add any pre-screening questions to your job. Simply turn the section off using Manage job (bottom of the left menu).
- You can add maximum of 5 pre-screening questions
- All applicants, including invited talent pool candidates, must complete the pre-screening questions.
How does this affect candidate matching?
When viewing your candidate list, candidates that have answered ALL of your questions with your desired response, will appear with a green tick under the Pre-screen column (see image below).
If the candidate answers ANY of your questions with the undesired response, they will appear with a red cross under the Pre-screen column.
Candidates can also be filtered using this field.
