The 'Primary manager' and 'Secondary manager' fields on the user account page enable you to assign managers to users in your learning space, with the secondary manager acting as a backup if the primary manager is removed or disabled from your learning space.
These fields indicate a reporting line between the user and the users added to the fields and can be used for assigning tasks such as course progress approvals and notifying other users about course time limits.
To manage these fields:
- Access the user account page of a user in your learning space (from the People page, click the name of a user on the USERS tab).
- Hover over the 'Primary manager' or 'Secondary manager' field in the User info section and click the pen (edit) icon that appears.
- Click the field then use the search box to search for the user you want to assign, select the user, then click Save.
The manager is saved to the user's account page.
Changing or removing a user's assigned manager
To change a manager or remove a manager completely, follow these steps from the user's account page:
- Access the user account page of a user in your learning space (from the People page, click the name of a user on the USERS tab).
- Hover over the 'Primary manager' or 'Secondary manager' field in the User info section and click the pen (edit) icon that appears.
- Click the field then use the search box to search for a different user to assign or click Clear (to leave the field blank), then click Save.
Viewing and sorting by primary and secondary managers on the People page
When primary and secondary managers are assigned, you can view and sort users on the People page according to this information.
- On the USERS tab of the People page, click the column icon (the button with 3 vertical bars, near the search box).
- Select the 'Primary manager' and 'Secondary manager' checkboxes to add the fields to the table.
- Sort by the 'Primary manager' or 'Secondary manager' field by clicking the relevant column heading.
