After creating a group in Clui, you can add users to the group individually or in bulk via the group's dedicated group space. Alternatively, you can add users to groups when adding them to your learning space or individually or in bulk from the USERS tab of the People page. See the sections below for more information.
New users
Invite new users to Clui and use the Add users to groups and Enrol users in courses options to add them to the group and assign courses to them.
Existing users
- Select People in the header menu.
- On the USERS tab, select the users you want to add to the group (click on the check boxes on the far left).
- Click Add to groups from the menu above the list of users.
- Select the group you want to add the users to, as well as their Group access level. You can select multiple groups with different access levels using the Add button.
- When you have finished, click Add to groups.
The users are added to the group(s). The access settings and permissions for the group apply to the newly added users.
Bulk users (using a .CSV file)
- Select People in the header menu.
- On the USERS tab, click Invite and assign.
- Optionally click the Download CSV template link to download a template CSV file, then populate and save the file.
- Click the Upload CSV file link.
- Locate and open the file.
- Open the Select groups to add users to panel by clicking the downward arrow on the right. Select the group(s) and the group access level to assign to the users. Click Add.
- Optionally select any courses to assign in the Select courses to assign panel.
- Select Send email to users with links to their assigned courses if you want to notify your newly added users, and, optionally, type a message for them.
- Click Continue.
Removing users from groups
You can remove users directly from a group's dedicated group space or from their profile (to access a user's profile page, locate them on the People page and click their name). In the Groups section of a user's profile page, hover over the relevant group and click the menu icon that appears (3 horizontal dots on the far right), then select Remove from group.
Note: You can also remove users from multiple groups at one time. Click Remove from groups above the list of groups on their profile page, then select the groups you want to apply the action to and click Remove from groups.
